Piers Flawn-Thomas Live versions just as beautiful as studio recordings. I really love the Kings of Convenience remix, it's perfect! Favorite track: Kings Of Convenience - My Ship Isn't Pretty (Remix) (Live in Santa Fe).

Recorded on a cold September morning in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the debut year of Unify Fest ( unifyfest.com ).

I had just performed three sets at Imagine Festival on Orcas Island, Washington, and questioned whether I could afford or justify the drive from the furthest corner of the Pacific Northwest USA (what we often call the PNW) all the way to Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was no small feat. One stroke of bad luck on the road could have left me stranded in mostly-unknown territory with very little money and too much music gear.

Israel Jacob of Stratosphere and Infinite Brothers was performing at both Imagine Festival and Unify Fest like myself. We decided to go for it and just put the miles on my leased car. These miles were very precious, as the car went on to reach the end of its mileage allowance six months before the end of its lease.

For a time, I questioned if I had made the right choice. Driving all that way, with only enough money for gas, food, and maybe a hotel, for two volunteer performances? Well, thanks to the magic of passing time, it now seems to make sense. When I came across this recording, I froze in my tracks. It was cold enough that morning that in my head, I thought I was playing terribly -- at least for the first half of the show. After enough time to lose expectations gave me a fresh perspective. With fresh ears, I think these live songs came together quite beautifully, warts and all.
